CLASH NEWS ~ December 2008

Slash at the Clash:

Due to an overwhelming amount of requests, we have decided to offer the Slash class at not only the Bash, but the Clash as well. That’s right, you will be able to run your Slash on back to back weekends at premier JConcepts events. We already have entries flowing in, so be sure to get yours in ASAP. The rules (listed below) as well as the entry fee (just $15) will remain the same for both events.

Slash Rules:

The truck must remain box stock in regards to the chassis, wheels, tires, servo, speed control, motor. The receiver may be changed to accommodate another radio system. Body changes are allowed, as long as the body appears similar to a CORR type short course truck. Suspension setup adjustments are permitted, but usage of aftermarket shocks or hop-ups parts are prohibited.

CLASH NEWS ~ November 2008

Entry Update:

We are t-minus 3 weeks from the Clash and the entries are really rolling in now, we are well over 100. The strong international presence which we alluded to previously has materialized and we now have nearly 30 entries from across the pond. At this pace we will be very close to, or maybe even hit our 300 entry goal/limit! Ryan Maifield will be back to defend his titles, as well as Lee Martin and Paul Bradby (both Worlds A Finalists).

Warm-up weekend:

We are currently scheduled to have a Clash Warm-up race on Sunday November 30th. This is mainly to run in the track and make sure the jumps and landings are properly formed and ready for racing. If you are in the area come out and club race with the Coral Springs club. Throughout the weekend we will also be taking sign-ups for the race. Please sign-up ahead of time!

You can download and fill out our pdf registration form here to mail in with your check or money order.

Or fill out our convenient on-line form and pay by Paypal or credit / debit card on Paypal.com’s secure site.

Sponsors:

The latest new sponsor to join us is Yokomo, we are very excited to have them join on with us. There is also important news about our sponsors as Team Associated has signed on to support the race not only with drivers, but as an official race sponsor. Associated will also be putting on a Demo of their new short course truck, the SC8 so be sure to watch for that during the program. If you’re interested in signing up for the SC8 class please email us (info@rcclash.com) and we will be happy to accommodate you. The entry fee is only $30, but they are limited so get it in quick! MIP and Cold Fusion Fuel will also be a sponsors for this event.

Check in and registration -

The first thing to do when you arrive at the track is to check in. We are going to be doing this outside the track area by the JConcepts race trailer. Only registered drivers and mechanics will be allowed onto the track. All you have to do before you can practice is check–in.

Covered Pitting:

We’ve had many questions regarding covered pitting, and YES we will be offering it. We will have tents, tables, chairs, and power available at the track for those flying in. This will be at a cost of $35 and it is encouraged that you reserve these as space is limited. Please use the online signup form (www.rcclash.com/signup) for best results.

Track:

The layout is now going in and should be completed soon, it is flowing and quick, similar to last years. We have made many concessions to make sure that the layout is friendly to all classes, so done be worried about 1/8th buggy or truck, we had you in mind as well. There are plans for more dirt to be added to create more elevation, so the picture shown is only a teaser. This is going to be one of the best (if not the) best layout you see all year!

Electric 1/8th Buggy:

This class has created quite the buzz, we are hearing rumors from several manufacturers about attendance and displays. It looks like this innovative offering should be pretty strong for a first attempt. If you have an electric 1/8th scale, this is the race to bring it out!

Sportsman Classes – Super Stock

The “Super” Stock Buggy and Truck classes will be using 13.5t motors, and not 10.5t as many assume. This should provide everyone with easy access to the current “standard” stock brushless motor for off-road. As a brushed equivalent we recommend a 27t motor.

Enduro 1/10th truck (modified truck) Enduro 1/8th electric buggy (J82):

The inclusion of the J82 Enduro and Enduro Truck classes at this years Clash are going to provide that extra track time everyone is looking for. Both classes will be running 7 minute qualifiers and 15 minute long A-main events, with 2 bump-ups. This takes full advantage of the runtime of the latest brushless and Lipo technologies and gives you that nitro run time without the hassles.

Battery suggestions

We highly recommend Lipo batteries for the extended racing action offered at the Clash. There are still some racers who use the NiMh batteries, and we suggested backs 4200 mah or higher. We had good results with 3700 mah batteries, but the added capacity of the 4200+ would be extra insurance. All Lipo batteries (7.4v for all but 4wd electric 1/8th) are legal for competition, but it is recommended to use the hard shell type. Anything over 5000 mah would be safe for a longer 15 minute main.

Here is some very useful information regarding Lipo batteries. Please read this information prior to use: Lipo.pdf

Main Event Length:

Electric A Mains:

  • 10 minutes (unless otherwise noted)
  • Enduro – 15 minutes
  • Expert 4wd Mod – 8 minutes
  • 1/8th Buggy – 15 minutes

Electric B Mains:
  • 8 minutes

Electric C and Below Mains:
  • 7 minutes

Nitro A Mains:
  • 30 minutes

Nitro B Mains:
  • 15 minutes

Nitro C and Below Mains:
  • 10 minutes

LiveRC update –

Brandon Rohde will be on hand to handle the LiveRC scoring that will be available on his website. The Coral Springs club does not direct broadband internet service so we are going to be using an air card. We are keeping our fingers crossed and hoping for the best internet connection possible. http://liverc.rccars.com/liverc.php

RC Action Pics -

Greg Rojna will be on hand on Saturday and Sunday to cover the race with photos and media live at the track. You can visit his site at anytime for great updates on R/C events across the country. www.rcactionpics.com http://www.rcactionpics.com

CLASH NEWS ~ SEPTEMBER 2008

Even though it’s still a few months out, the entries and commitments are already flowing in. We had over 200 entries last year and there are currently almost 50 sign-ups. There are rumors floating around about multiple Worlds A-main drivers interested in attending. As soon as there is more word, we will be sure to announce it!

1/8th Electric 4wd Buggy

JConcepts is including another new and innovative class at this years Clash. The popularity of electric 1/8th buggy is coming on in full force and we have taken notice. Losi, Caster, Novak, Tekno, and RC Product Designs are all involved with the idea and are currently selling products to either convert your buggy, or provide you with a full kit.

Expect a fast track and layout. Special consideration will be made for 1/8th buggies and truggies to ensure available racing space and constant speed. The Coral Springs facility is more than capable of handling at layout of this nature with its dimensions being 130' x 70'.
